Step-by-Step: How to Clean Lash Extensions Properly

Cleaning your lash extensions without them falling out is all about being gentle but consistent. Here’s how to do it like a pro (and keep your lashes looking fresh AF):

1. Use an Oil-Free Lash Cleanser

  • Avoid anything with oil (it breaks down the lash glue).

  • Use a foam cleanser specifically made for lash extensions or dilute baby shampoo (fragrance-free, of course) if you're in a pinch.

2. Use a Soft Brush or Clean Fingers

  • Use a fluffy makeup brush or a clean fingertip to gently lather the cleanser on your lashes.

  • Work in light downward strokes, not side-to-side scrubbing.

3. Rinse with Lukewarm Water

  • Splash gently or use a squeeze bottle to rinse off the cleanser.

  • Avoid high-pressure water (no shower head blasting your face).

4. Pat Dry with a Lint-Free Towel or Paper Towel

  • Do not rub your eyes. Just gently blot and let them air dry.

5. Brush Them Out (Once Dry)

  • Use a clean spoolie to fluff and separate the lashes once they’re totally dry.

  • Don’t brush them while wet — they’re more delicate then.

Here are a few extra tips to make them last even longer…

  • No oil-based products or eye creams near your lashes.

  • Sleep on your back if you can (side-sleepers tend to squish them).

  • Avoid steamy showers and saunas for the first 48 hours.

  • Clean your lashes 2–3 times a week — or daily if you wear makeup.
